What is RCIA?

The RCIA program is designed for individuals who are seeking to enter the Catholic Church or learn more about the Catholic faith. Whether you have never been baptized, come from a different Christian denomination, or have been away from the Church for a while, RCIA offers a welcoming space for exploration and formation.

Exploring the RCIA Process

Our RCIA program at Twin Lakes Baptist Church is a comprehensive journey of faith, providing participants with a solid foundation in Catholic teachings, practices, and traditions. Through a combination of education, spiritual reflection, and community support, we guide individuals in their discernment and preparation for full initiation into the Catholic Church.

Stage 1: Inquiry

The first stage of the RCIA process is the Inquiry period. This is a time for individuals to ask questions, voice concerns, and learn more about Catholic beliefs and practices. In this stage, participants are encouraged to explore their personal faith journey and discern if Catholicism is right for them.

Stage 2: Catechumenate

Once individuals have decided to pursue the Catholic faith, they enter the Catechumenate stage. This is a period of deeper study and formation, where participants learn about the Church's teachings, sacraments, and prayer life. It is a time for spiritual growth and building a strong foundation in Catholic beliefs.

Stage 3: Purification and Enlightenment

During the Lenten season, individuals in the RCIA program enter the stage of Purification and Enlightenment. This is a time of intense preparation, reflection, and prayer as participants prepare for the sacraments of initiation: Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist. This stage culminates in the celebration of the Easter Vigil, where individuals are officially received into the Catholic Church.

Stage 4: Mystagogy

Following the reception into the Catholic Church, participants enter the stage of Mystagogy. This is a period of ongoing formation and integration into the Catholic community. It is a time for new Catholics to deepen their understanding of the faith, embrace their baptismal call to discipleship, and actively participate in the life of the Church.
